History

The first Catholic school in Scoresby, originally named Christ the Priest, opened on 1 February 1972. In 1974, under the guidance of Parish Priest Fr Noel Mackay, the parish and school were renamed in honour of the apostle St Jude, the patron saint of hope and difficult causes. Fr Noel served faithfully from 1974 until his retirement in 2015. As the Scoresby and Knox area grew, St Jude’s Primary School expanded from a single stream to three streams. Continued population growth led to the establishment of further schools: St Simon’s Primary School in Rowville in 1982, honouring Saints Simon and Jude; and Holy Trinity Primary School, Wantirna South, in 1985. Holy Trinity proudly identifies itself as the third school within St Jude’s Parish.
